True Israel and False Judaism

CHF 13.00

The Jewish people have spanned centuries, and Judaism remains a reality. Beyond simple human or natural factors, genetic or socio-cultural, this almost unique persistence is deeply explained by theological reasons. These were always taught by the Church until recently. The Jewish people indeed remain in history as the rejection of Christ. It is this rejection that gives them their mysterious, supernatural cohesion.

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the declaration Nostra aetate, Pope Francis nevertheless affirmed that "the Church, while professing salvation through faith in Christ, recognizes the irrevocable nature of the Old Covenant." Vatican II thus introduced a radical change in Catholic doctrine. Could the rejection of Christ still be compatible with the persistence of the law of Moses? Can contemporary Judaism be claimed as the heir of the Israel of God, of the chosen people of the old covenant? These are the questions that this book seeks to answer, in order not to lose sight of this mystery of the Jewish people and to understand its significance in the light of the teachings of Tradition.

Born in 1966, Father Jean-Michel Gleize, a priest of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, has taught ecclesiology and fundamental theology at the Ecône seminary in Switzerland since 1996.
